How the Last 13 Stanley Cup Champions Didn't Repeat, Part 4 ...

There are many different game tables on the market today, and when you purchase one you normally get all the basics that are needed to enjoy the game. Though the basics are great, sometimes it is not enough, you can get caught short when a group montreal canadiens of people come over, or to enjoy the game better. Here are some accessories to consider for some of the more popular game tables available.Air hockey ? for this game you really only need hockey paddle and pucks. A pair of pucks in generally enough but an extra set is always nice. The game can be played in pairs, though doesn?t work as well as other games. The best thing to have around is extra pucks. In the past 13 years, all 13 Stanley Cup champions fell short of raising the Cup another consecutive time. The first part of my series looked at how the champions from 1999, 2000 and 2001 failed to repeat. Part two studied how the 2002, 2003 and 2004 champions missed the chance to win again. Last week, part three explained how the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 champions were undone the next year. Finally, this series ends by exploring the way the 2010, 2011 and 2012 champions went home early.

2010: Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins came into the 2010 playoffs facing off against the Ottawa Senators in the quarterfinal round. The Senators got the first win of the series, 5-4, but the Penguins jumped back into it with a 2-1 victory to even the series. If Ottawa hoped for a little boost from being back at home, they didn?t get it: Pittsburgh won Game 3 by a score of 4-2 and then lit the lamp for a 7-4 win in Game 4. Teetering on the brink of elimination, the Senators did extend the series by winning 4-3 in Game 5, which was the longest game in their team?s history?it went to triple overtime. Game 6 was also decided in extra time, but in just one period this time and not in Ottawa?s favor: Pittsburgh won 4-3 and advanced to the conference semifinals.

In the next round, the Penguins met another Canadian team, the Montreal Canadiens. They opened the series with a 6-3 win that the Habs answered with a 3-1 victory. Following a Penguins 2-0 shutout in which both goals came in the third period, the series grew very tight. Montreal and Pittsburgh traded one-goal wins back and forth: Montreal won Game 4, Pittsburgh Game 5, Montreal Game 6. In Game 7, though, the Penguins fell?Montreal built up a four-goal lead that Pittsburgh simply couldn?t overcome and they lost 5-2. With that win, the 2010 Canadiens, the eighth seed in the playoffs, managed to beat both the President?s Trophy-holding Washington Capitals and the defending Stanley Cup champions. These games were also the last to be played in the Penguins? old Mellon Arena because they upgraded to new digs at the Consol Energy Center for 2010-11. Interestingly, the Canadiens also played in the first game at Mellon Arena.

Notable Penguins included Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz, who are all still on the team today.

Meanwhile in the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks were starting to take flight. Matched up with the Nashville Predators in the quarterfinals, they put together a six-game series that included two shutouts and a hard-fought overtime win before sending the Predators home with a 5-3 defeat. They then met the Vancouver Canucks for a high-scoring six-game series: every single game was decided by at least four goals. The Canucks started things off with a 5-1 win in the Windy City, but the Blackhawks answered by winning 4-2. Games 3 and 4 in British Columbia were all about the visiting team as Chicago put together a 5-2 win thanks in great part to a Dustin Byfuglien hat trick, then built on it with a 7-4 victory that had a Jonathan Toews hat trick. Perhaps embarrassed by the back-to-back hat tricks, Vancouver won Game 5 4-1 and elongated things, though Chicago won 5-1 in Game 6 and took the series victory.

They then proceeded to take down the San Jose Sharks in a four-game sweep and faced off with the Philadelphia Flyers (who?d just finished off the Canadiens in five games, followed by Mike Richards touching the Prince of Wales trophy, laughing at superstition) for the Stanley Cup. The series began with a downpour of goals as Chicago won 6-5. The downpour let up and Chicago won Game 2 by a 2-1 score. Philadelphia took Game 3 in overtime, preventing a 0-3 standing in the series, and built up a better record with a 5-3 Game 4 win. The goal downpour came back temporarily with a Blackhawks 7-4 win for Game 5. Facing a possibly decisive Game 6, the two teams whipped leads back and forth, Scott Hartnell tied it late in the third and then in overtime, Patrick Kane scored the famous ?Where?s the puck?? goal to win the Stanley Cup for the Blackhawks? first time in 49 years.

2011: Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks came into the 2011 playoffs facing a rematch with the Canucks, but this time in the quarterfinals. This time, though, things were different, and that became evident when Vancouver shut out Chicago 2-0 at home to start the series. The Blackhawks tried hard to even the series, and almost did, but Vancouver got a 4-3 win. The Canucks then completely built up a 3-0 series lead with a 3-2 win in Game 3. With the Blackhawks? backs against the wall, they began to create a comeback, starting with a 7-2 victory in Game 4. Then came a 5-0 shutout at Rogers Arena. Ben Smith?s overtime goal in Game 6 forced Game 7 and saw Chicago even the series after falling deep into a hole, but Vancouver found an overtime answer too and won the series with a 2-1 victory.

Notable Blackhawks included Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith?all still Blackhawks today.

Meanwhile in the Eastern Conference, the classic rivalry between the Canadiens and the Boston Bruins was back in force. The Canadiens began the series by winning Game 1 with a 2-0 shutout and Game 2 by a 3-1 win, both in Massachusetts, before taking it back to Canada. But the Bruins started fighting back, piecing together a 4-2 win, adding on a 5-4 overtime victory and a 2-1 double overtime win to grab the series lead. Montreal answered with a 2-1 win to force a Game 7, which Boston won 4-3 thanks to Nathan Horton?s overtime goal.

The Bruins then faced the Flyers in the conference semifinals?the team that came out of a 0-3 hole to win their semifinal series just a year earlier. The Bruins started off the series with a 7-3 win, added on a 3-2 overtime victory and piled on a third 5-1 win to create yet another three-game series lead. This time, though, instead of slipping and possibly letting the Flyers into the series, they swept them out with another 5-1 win.

In the conference final, the Bruins faced another seven-game series, this time against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning blasted into the series by winning 5-2, though the Bruins evened it up with a 6-5 victory and added a 2-0 shutout for the series lead. Tampa Bay bounced back at home via a 5-3 win that Boston replied to with a 3-1 win, placing them on the brink of elimination. But after the Lightning got a 5-4 win in Game 6, it became a full-length series. Finally, in a completely penalty-free Game 7, the Bruins took a 1-0 win and a trip to the Stanley Cup Final.

Vancouver awaited in the Final and opened the series with a 1-0 shutout, grabbing the lead with a 3-2 overtime win that was settled just 11 seconds after the extra period began. But then the Bruins blew open Game 3 and put away eight goals for an 8-1 win. All eight goals came after Horton was hit by Aaron Rome and wheeled off the ice, his series ending early. Boston then added a Game 4 shutout, beating Vancouver 4-0. Vancouver answered by shutting out the Bruins 1-0 again and grabbing the series lead once more. Boston sent the series to seven with a 5-2 Game 6 win and then another repeated score of their own, a 4-0 shutout in Game 7 to win the Stanley Cup.

2012: Boston Bruins

The Bruins entered the 2012 playoffs up against the Washington Capitals in the quarterfinals. It took until overtime in Game 1 for anyone to score at all, and by that time that?s all the Bruins needed for a win. Washington came back to get their own 2-1 win in Game 2 and level the series. The Bruins? 4-3 win in Game 3 was just the third in a pattern that would continue for the entire series: one-goal victories. It was replied to by a Capitals 2-1 win in Game 4 and a 4-3 win in Game 5. Now with the Bruins against the wall, they fought back to get a 4-3 victory and take it to seven all over again. The series ended in almost the same way it began: an overtime goal, except this time it cemented a 2-1 Capitals victory and sent the Bruins to a long summer.

Notable Bruins included Rich Peverley, Milan Lucic and Andrew Ference, all still on the team today.

Right now, we don?t know who the next Stanley Cup champion is. It will not be the Capitals, though, as they were eliminated after a seven-game semifinal series with the New York Rangers, who are currently still in the conference final. Will the inability to repeat continue to plague champions in the near future? Only time will tell.

Emma Harger is a Boston Bruins fan who truly enjoys learning about hockey history of all kinds. To her, one of the best parts of writing this series was reading about how each of these teams fought uniquely to try to repeat, even though they weren?t successful. She hopes you enjoyed this series, too.

RT on DVD & Blu-Ray: Red Tails and This Means War

Plus, the latest from Studio Ghibli, Daniel Radcliffe in horror, and some iconic buddy cops.

This week on home video, we've got a smattering of commercial misfires and critical darlings, with a little bit of horror tossed in for spice. The biggest releases we have unfortunately fall into the former category, with a spy love triangle comedy and an arguably too old-fashioned story about the Tuskegee Airmen. Following that up are the latest from Studio Ghibli, a completely under-the-radar sci-fi romance, Daniel Radcliffe's first post-Potter film, Abbas Kiarostami's latest, and a collection of buddy cop classics. ?I am so excited,"?Kelly Kelly told WWE.com. "Honestly I had no idea. I thought maybe I?d end up in the 60s, or if I was lucky, in the 50s. But when I got 38, I thought this is the craziest thing!??

?I beat Kate Upton, who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I beat Adriana Lima, who?s in Victoria?s Secret ? all of these big names. I couldn?t be happier!?

Last year, the former Divas Champion made the list at No. 82. But Kelly?s rise to the top is truly a testament to the power of the WWE Universe, as for the first time in Maxim history, the magazine?s readers weighed in on who should be on ?the definitive list of the world?s most beautiful women.?

?I give all the credit to the WWE Universe," Kelly said. "They were sending me Tweets about voting, and I was constantly re-Tweeting them. I have more than 522,000 followers now and they were really on it. I give all the credit to them. I got this because of them. I can?t thank the WWE Universe enough for voting for me!? (FOLLOW @REALKELLYKELLY)

Divas Champion Layla also made Maxim?s Hot 100 for the first time, clocking in at No. 95.

?I?m in total shock," Layla said with a smile. "I?ve only been back about four weeks and I didn?t even know I was nominated. The WWE Universe voted me in!??

?I want to say thank you very much to everybody who voted me in. ? I?ve never been in Maxim. So I feel very special. Thank you, guys. It?s awesome. It?s been a great 2012 so far. I couldn?t ask for anything more this year.?

Another notable name on the list is former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler at No. 51. It?s the bombshell?s seventh consecutive year being ranked by Maxim!

Also, Kelly Kelly?s WrestleMania XXVIII tag team partner Maria Menounos clocks in at No. 64. It?s the first time the "Extra"?host and "Dancing with the Stars"?alum earned the Maxim honor.

?I?m excited to be on the list with her,? Kelly Kelly said about Menounos. ?I think we?re both hot girls and we competed at WrestleMania together, so it?s really cool to be on the Hot 100 with her.

?But I am glad I beat her,? Kelly laughed.

Kelly Kelly promised this isn?t the last time the WWE Universe will see her on Maxim?s Hot 100. She?s set a new goal for herself ? to make the top 10!

?Hopefully I can get another cover out this year ? and I?ll be in the top 10. That?s my dream!?

Building Client Trust | Avid Investor Group

Building Client Trust Trust is like an elevator cable, in that only its absence should be remarkable. Trust between provider and consumer isn?t something you must only ?build,? it?s something you first earn, then maintain and preserve. Saying you can ?build? trust implies that you can move from a position in which a client doesn?t have faith in your ability to deliver, to a position where the client does.

SEE: Become Your Clients? One-Stop Shop

Your clients trust you implicitly, or they wouldn?t have chosen to do business with you in the first place. There aren?t degrees of trust, at least not between business entities. Either clients trust you, or they do not, or they don?t have enough information available by which to make a decision. If they do trust you, the only thing that will keep them trusting ? and keep them as your customers ? is repeated on-time and on-budget delivery of a satisfactory product or service. The easiest way to compromise that trust is by, of course, providing something less than what your clients have become accustomed to. On the other hand, you can compromise this trust by attempting to mutate your professional relationship into something more personal.

Advertisement ? Article continues below.

Some people like to argue that it?s best to treat clients ?in the way you?d like to be treated ? like family,? as if the phrases on either side of that dash were somehow synonymous. From at least one reasoned perspective, there isn?t a more dangerous way in which to conduct business. For the most part, your clients could not be less interested in the details of your life. Nor do you need to share with them your dreams and aspirations. Doing so is an act of brazen selfishness, and the very inverse of the axiom that the customer ought to be your focus.

SEE: 5 Big Companies? Blunders

However, saying that the customer comes first doesn?t mean that you should switch chairs and take an interest in your client?s personal life, either. In many respects, that?s even worse. Whether you?re sincere, or just faking it, trying to get intimate with your clients is a gross violation of privacy. Not only that, but if your primary objective is to maintain trust, getting personal is an awkward and circuitous way of going about it.

Socializing with clients is unavoidable. Taking an established client to dinner or drinks transforms your contract, whether written or unwritten, into something beyond business.

Maybe your intentions are explicit, or at least clear, and having a personal relationship with the client is more important to you than making money could be. There?s nothing wrong with that, in and of itself, as long as you understand that any fruitful personal relationship could hamper the business one. However, if that?s not the case, save yourself the trouble and keep things nice and clean.

The Brits have the right idea here. As befits a boisterous American, I once referred to a new English client by her first name. It?s a mistake I came to regret, and it?s not as if she was significantly older than me, as she was some gray-haired grande dame in pearls and a sensible hat. To New World sensibilities, she certainly wasn?t old enough to have warranted the honorific ?Mrs.? By using her first name I?d implied a degree of familiarity that I hadn?t earned and never would. If that wasn?t clear at the time, it became unmistakable one second later when she called me ?Mr. McFarlane.?

SEE: Advisors: Tips For Providing For Older Clients.

The following advice might contradict every book on sales ever written, but no, your customers are not buying you. They aren?t even necessarily buying your product. They?re buying what your product can do for them. Ultimately, they?re spending money in exchange for a marginally easier or more efficient life. There?s an advertising axiom that illustrates the point succinctly: ?People don?t want a bar of soap. They want clean hands.? Nor do they want a soap salesman, no matter how friendly and engaging he or she might be.

The Bottom Line
Professionalism means keeping a professional distance. As someone who deals largely in digital products and services that don?t require anyone to kick the tires before buying, it?s easy to keep my business relationships purely commercial. You may take ownership of what I?m selling, along with this invoice, and in return you can drop money in my bank account. Everybody wins. Most of my clients live far enough that I don?t see them, and even my local clients have little use or need for face-to-face contact. They have families and friends of their own and don?t need to devote more of their precious time to me.

A solar eclipse will blot out part of the sun this weekend, and astronomers in Colorado are organizing what they hope will be the world's largest viewing party in one place. Their venue: an entire football stadium.

The eclipse will occur in the afternoon and early evening on Sunday (May 20), during which time the moon will pass between Earth and the sun, casting a shadow on the planet. This weekend's event is called an?annular solar eclipse?(from the Latin word "annulus," meaning "little ring"), because the moon will not completely cover the sun, but will leave a fiery ring around its circumference.

At its peak, the moon will block roughly 94 percent of the sun's light. This potentially spectacular?solar eclipse?will be visible from much of Asia, the Pacific region and North America, provided the weather cooperates.

The University of Colorado, at Boulder, will be hosting a free eclipse-watching event at the campus' Folsom Stadium, beginning at 5:30 p.m. local time (6:30 p.m. EDT; 2230 GMT). Special protective glasses will be sold at the football stadium, but organizers suggest planning ahead in case supplies run out. [Solar Eclipse of May 20 (Photo Observing Guide)]

Attendees will be treated to hot dogs, and have the opportunity to participate in trivia contests and giveaways. But the main attraction will, of course, be the show in the sky, which promises to be the best solar eclipse the U.S. has seen in more than a decade, said?event organizer Doug Duncan, an astronomer at the University of Colorado, and director of the school's Fiske Planetarium.

"After leading eclipse expeditions since 1970 I got tired of people not being prepared to watch, so as leader of the country's top university planetarium I went into action," Duncan said in a statement.

The campus' Fiske Planetarium and Sommers Bausch Observatory will also celebrate "Astronomy Day" on May 20, featuring hands-on displays and telescope activities.

The event has already received a strong response, and Duncan is expecting between 10,000 and 20,000 people to attend the viewing party (the stadium seats roughly 40,000 spectators).

"As of right now, we have sold 39,000 pairs of eclipse glasses," Duncan told SPACE.com. "We?ve been selling them at the planetarium and a local hardware store, and they've sold out."

He reminds observers that it is extremely important to protect your eyes before viewing the eclipse. Skywatchers should never look directly at the sun, either with the naked eye or through?telescopes or binoculars?without the proper filters.

"The sun is very powerful, so you need to protect your eyes," Duncan said.

The eclipse will occur in the late afternoon or early evening of May 20 throughout North America, and May 21 for observers in Asia. This?solar eclipse skywatching guide?has more specific information about viewing locations and times.

To safely view the annular solar eclipse, you can purchase special solar filters or No. 14 welder's glass to wear over your eyes.?Warning:?Standard sunglasses will NOT provide sufficient protection. Astronomers use special filters and glasses to observe the sun safely.

Another safe and simple technique is to watch the eclipse indirectly with the solar projection method. This involves using your telescope, or one side of your binoculars, to project a magnified image of the sun?s disk onto a shaded white piece of cardboard.

Several U.S. national parks are also planning their own?observing events for the solar eclipse, and NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. are sending a group of researchers to the Grand Canyon.
