Race brings awareness to cyber bullying
LARGO - Upgrade2Success kicks off at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Walsingham Park in Largo. Registration is $25 through March 15th. Proceeds will provide select Pinellas County Schools with IT equipment, training for their staff and students and help raise awareness to help stop cyber bullying. A portion the race proceeds will go to a relief fund for Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

Race perks include a visit from the Easter bunny and an Easter egg hunt. Other race perks are chip-timed racing, race T-shirts, music, food from Lee Roy Selmons, water stations, silent auction, raffle by bib number, giveaways, medals for 5K winners, finisher medals for all kids, arts and crafts for the kids.

City of Largo plans Shamrock?n Run
LARGO ? Kick off your St. Patrick?s Day celebration with food, fun, friends and live entertainment at the eighth annual Shamrock?n Run 5K and 1.5-mile walk on Friday, March 15, 7 p.m., at Largo?s Ulmer Park, 301 West Bay Drive. Children age 7 and younger also can lace up their shoes and participate in the Clover Kids Fun Run starting at 8:15 p.m.

Following the races, all participants will enjoy a post-race meal, refreshments, drinks, award ceremony and live entertainment by local band, The Stick Martin Show. The concert is free and open to the general public; nonracers are welcome! Palm Pavilion Beachside Grill & Bar and Largo?s Recreation, Parks and Arts Department are sponsoring the run. Registration open for Stampede 5K
SEMINOLE ? Registration is under way for the annual Seminole Stampede 5K and 1-mile fun run Saturday, April 6, 7:30 a.m., at Walsingham Park, 12620 102nd Ave. The entry fee for the 5K is $20 on or before April 2 and $25 thereafter. The fee for the 1-mile run is $10 on or before April 2 and $15 after. Race participants will receive a T-shirt and post race awards party.

Awards will be given to the first-place overall male and female, first pklace master male and females, and the top three in a variety of male and female age classes. Register online at www.active.com. For more information, call the Seminole Chamber of Commerce at 392-3245.

Shooting Stars registration continues
SEMINOLE ? The Seminole Shooting Stars youth soccer program is taking registration for its spring season at the Seminole Recreation Center. Boys and girls ages 4 to 12 are eligible to participate. The cost is $70 for members and $105 for nonmembers with a $10 sibling discount. Practice begins on March 12 and games start March 21. The season continues through May 2. Games will be played Thursday nights from 6 to 8. For more information, call 391-8345.

Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament March 10
CLEARWATER ? Tumbleweed?s Wounded Warrior Golf Tournament is set for Sunday, March 10, 11:30 a.m., at Countryside Country Club, 3001 Countryside Blvd. Cost is $55, which covers golf, a golf cart, catered food and the first drink. There will be four skydivers, one of whom is a wounded warrior, who will dive into the event with an American flag. Call 433-3329.

Youth hoops set in St. Pete Beach
ST. PETE BEACH ? The city of St. Pete Beach Recreation Department has partnered with the NBA and the Orlando Magic to be a part of its youth basketball program.

The program offers two coed age divisions ? Grades 3-5 and 6-8. The cost is $90 per player.

Registration is set at the St. Pete Beach Recreation Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, on the following days:

? Saturday, March 9, 10 a.m. to noon.
? Thursday, March 14, 6 to 8 p.m.
? Saturday, March 16, 10 a.m. to noon.

Participation in the program includes a reversible Junior Magic jersey, a certificate of achievement and trophy and a free ticket to a Magic home game.

League play begins in April and continues through late June with a 10-game schedule, plus a tournament.

Teams play against each other and practice once a week, with games one to two times a week, Thursday and Saturday. All games will be played at the St. Pete Beach Recreation Center.
