1. Choosing a Photographer
Before you book a photographer you will need to do some research to see what style of photography appeals to you. In order to get the photographer you want for your day it is important to start looking sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. There are various different styles of wedding photography ranging from traditional, documentary and editorial. It is important to firstly decide which style of wedding photography is for you and look for a photographer using your preferred style. Do you like the natural reportage style or are you a more traditional couple looking for posed shots? Wedding photographers will each have their own personal style of shooting a wedding, so it is important to view their work to make sure it appeals to you. Take a good look at a photographers website and blog to see examples of weddings they have shot.
2. Meet Your Photographer
You will spend lots of time in the company of your photographer on your wedding day so it is crucial that you feel comfortable with the photographer you book. Your wedding photographer should make you feel relaxed and instill the confidence that your memories are being captured in a beautiful way on the day. A passionate and motivated photographer is constantly looking for great shots and this will make all the difference on the day. When you meet a wedding photographer you will be able to get a feel for their personality and style and view sample wedding albums to get a closer look at their work. A professional wedding photographer should be fully insured and carry back-up cameras and lenses so it is always good to ask these questions. It is also important that the photographer is well experienced in wedding photography this should really be their specialty.!
3. Plan Ahead
Meet your photographer again running up to the wedding day (I usually meet my couples about 4-6 weeks before) to discuss everything again and makes sure that everyone is on the same page. During this meeting you can discuss locations for the photo shoot, whether you want formal family shots and when and where this will take place, as well as any specific shots that you want from the day maybe with a grandparent or someone close to you who has travelled a long way to be there. You can also discuss a plan if the weather is very bad on the day does the venue have suitable indoor areas for taking photography? I believe that this is an important factor to consider when choosing a venue. Listen to your photographers suggestions, as they will know best regarding locations, lighting and timings on the day.
4. Relax
So, after all your planning and preparations the day has finally arrived. There is nothing more that you can do so just relax and enjoy it. Stress and nerves will show up on camera, as it is natural for your face and body to tense up under pressure. Try to remain calm from the moment you wake up in the morning. Think ahead for the morning preparations. Some brides get stressed with a crowd in the house and who can blame them. Enjoy every moment of your long awaited day!
Thank you for your kind reading. And you will have a wonderful wedding day, happy life.
