Job Summary:

Heald College faculty members to take a personal interest in each student's success by maximizing learning opportunities and bringing out the best in each student's abilities. With attention to the mission of the institution, the ultimate goal is for graduates to be able to apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes gained at Heald College in their personal lives and the workplace. Members of Heald's faculty are expected to engage with the faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders to further the mission of the institution and assist our students in meeting their educational goals.

Job Responsibilities:

Heald College faculty responsibilities and competencies capture the academic, administrative and campus activities that are shared by all instructors. These responsibilities and competencies are used as the basis for faculty hiring, training, development and evaluation.

Required activities:

  • Uses quality instructional strategies
  • Keeps current in subject matter
  • Employs effective class management techniques
  • Follows classroom policy, maintains accurate records, FERPA, etc.
  • Uses formative assessment and summative evaluation (timely grade posting and use of rubrics)
  • Uses effective communication (timely response to email/phone calls)
  • Creates positive and supportive learning community
  • Models professional behavior
  • Participates in department meetings
  • Attends quarterly faculty in-services
  • Responds to course and program surveys
  • Participates in campus student success activities (graduation, orientation, etc) - optional for online
  • Maintains scheduled office/lab hours for academic advising and student support - optional for online
  • Attends professional development meetings - optional for online
  • Participates in Heald's Faculty Governance Model to include serving on curriculum review team, participating in annual and comprehensive program review and submitting data for assessment of student learning. - optional for both onground and online

Skills:

Qualifications:

All Faculty positions require a minimum of Bachelor's degree. For General Education Instructors an advanced degree is required. For, legal instructor positions a Juris Doctorate degree and/or paralegal experience is required. No teaching experience necessary.
